Opening Reception – Arlington: A Senior Portrait – exhibition by BPPA member Paul Marotta

22 October 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

OPENING RECEPTION: A 107-year-old who still lives in her own home and routinely gets “the works” done at her hair salon so she can always look her best. A 90-year-old who goes to the Arlington Council on Aging fitness classes every week and has a smile so broad it’s contagious. A 96-year-old whose memory is exceedingly sharp and shows me her hands declaring she has yet to show any signs of arthritis. Seniors who play table tennis so hard they split the table tennis ball with the force of their strike.

The photo documentary, Arlington: A Senior Portrait, opens on October 22, 2018 with a reception beginning at 6:00 pm at Arlington Town Hall, 730 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, Massachusetts. The exhibit comprises more than 100 images on 9 panels, each between 8-10ft long with work from 9 months of shooting in 2018 throughout Town of Arlington. Photography took place at the Arlington Council on Aging Senior Center, senior housing complexes, Old Schwamb Mill, private homes and even at a hair salon with a 107-year-old. The presentation panels are deigned to unfold individual stories as well as completely immerse the viewer in the lives of Arlington seniors as they walk through the exhibit hallway in the old wing of the Arlington Town Hall.

Arlington: A Senior Portrait, by photographer Paul Marotta, is supported in part by a grant from the Arlington Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

The exhibition will be on display until Nov. 22, 2018.
