Monti is the Gold Star father of Medal of Honor recipient Sfc. Jared Monti, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2006. He is the founder of Operation Flags for Vets where volunteers place 77,000 flags throughout the cemetery for Memorial Day. The event had been canceled this year due to the pandemic.
