03 – Feature 1st: Susanne Kreiter – The Boston Globe Worcester, MA., Rudy Martinez makes horseshoes at the St. Pierre Manufacturing Corporation in Worcester. It is the lone mass manufacturer of recreational (or throwing) horseshoes left in the US. It produces ”hundreds of thousands” of shoes per year, according to Peter St. Pierre. The shoes are produced on three massive machines on the premises. Each machine is operated by one individual and each shoe is produced one at a time.
