The protestors were calling for the release of Liu Xiaobo, China’s only Nobel Peace Prize winner who spent almost a quarter of his life behind bars in China, after news that his late-stage liver cancer condition had worsened. Liu Xiaobo died 13 days later while under guard. He was 61.
